A day in Knysna
With its lush indigenous forests, tranquil lakes, and magnificent beaches this small town is known as the Pearl of the Garden Route.

Lagoon Cruises
No visitor can leave Knysna without experiencing a luxury cruise on the Knysna Lagoon. Pleasure boats and ferries offer sundowner cruises in summer.

Whale & Dolphin watching
Take a trip out to sea past the Nine Castles of Noetzie to Buffalo Bay to see the endangered humpback dolphins. In season whales are frequent visitors to this stretch of coast.

At the Knysna Elephant Park visitors not only see elephants, but are allowed to touch them as well.

Abundant Birdlife & Natural Fynbos Vegetation
Walk or hike through the Pledge Nature Reserve or the Featherbed Nature Reserve. Experience the ghostly mystery of an abandoned gold mining town on the Millwood hiking trail.

Historic Woodmill Lane is an up-market shopping centre with a wide variety of boutiques, art and craft galleries. Alongside the small-boat harbour of the Knysna Lagoon, the Knysna Quays Waterfront offers good shopping and restaurants.

Knysna attracts the highest per capita ratio of artists of any area of South Africa. Visit the Knysna Fine Arts Gallery, the largest gallery in the Western Cape, exhibiting local and international artists. At The Dale Elliot Art Gallery, see oils and water-colours by this internationally renowned landscape artist. Feathers Gallery sells finely detailed hand-crafted birds made of wood. Feathers also offers factory tours.

The Knysna Oyster is a speciality at many restaurants, along with other fine foods.

A day in Plettenberg Bay
With its warm seas and sunny beaches, Plettenberg Bay is the perfect place to take a break and have fun in the surf or on the lake and lagoon. Whale and dolphin watching excursions leave from Plettenberg Bay, offering the tourist the chance to see the resident Bryde's whales, Southern Right and Humpback whales and even Orcas. Watch for pods of Bottlenose dolphins and possibly catch sight of the rare Indo-Pacific Humpback dolphin. Some species of shark may also be seen.

A day in Oudtshoorn
